Influence represents a character's ability to shape the thoughts, attitudes, and decisions of others through charm, rhetoric, deception, and social awareness. Skilled characters can persuade, negotiate, fast-talk, or mislead others in conversation. A character using Influence may present convincing arguments, fabricate believable lies, or manipulate emotions in order to gain cooperation or extract information.
Uses:
- Persuasion: The character may attempt to convince others to cooperate, reveal information, or offer assistance.
- Deception: The character may make false claims or present implausible statements as believable.
- Negotiation: Influence may be used to improve outcomes in social exchanges, such as obtaining better rewards, favorable terms, or additional information.
Check: The DC is determined by the disposition, intelligence, and circumstances of the NPC being addressed or by opposing players during a specialized roll.
Conversation: This skill is typically used during dialogue with NPCs but can be used between consenting players as well.
