Characters with this skill can acquire new tongues, comprehend foreign speech, and navigate conversations across cultures. While Linguistics governs the knowledge of language itself, Scriptcraft still governs reading, writing, and forgery.\\ \\ **Uses:**\\ **- Language Slots:** Every ranks in Linguistics grants the character one additional language slot, which may be used to learn a new language.\\ **- Learn Languages:** The character may use Linguistics to acquire new spoken languages, improving comprehension and enabling conversation in that language.\\ **- Oral Communication:** Characters with ranks in Linguistics gain advantages in understanding and speaking in unfamiliar tongues, which may unlock dialogue options or social interactions.\\ \\ **Synergy:** A character with 5 or more ranks in Linguistics gains a +2 bonus on Scriptcraft checks for languages they do not know.\\ \\ **Written vs. Oral:** While Linguistics allows understanding of a language, complex interpretations or reproductions of written text in any language may require the Scriptcraft skill whether or not you know the language being used.
